First Day of Preschool
Another milestone reached. When we sent the girls to school a year ago, Moose was too young to join them. He didn't realize that he wasn't going until the morning of the first day of school. Julie got the girls ready and Moose filled his little backpack with a few toys and a tennis ball. When Moose didn't get dropped off with his sisters he was furious.
A year has passed since then and it's now time for preschool. Far from having any kind of separation anxiety, he charged right into the school when I dropped him off without so much as saying goodbye to me.
After school, we were heading home in the van and I couldn't wait to hear about all the fun things he did. I figured he would feel the same way:
Me: "Moose, what did you do today?"
Moose: "Nothing."
After a bit of badgering, I finally got out of him that he "colored and learned." Learned about what? Nothing.
Moose Gets His Birthday Wish
Moose isn't quite at the age yet where he gets demanding around his birthday. He happens to be at the age where he makes demands no matter the time of year.
For the past several weeks, he has been telling his mother and me, "I want dollars and coins!"
He turned 4 just the other day and got what he asked for: dollars and coins. He got several dollar bills, a card with quarters taped all over, and a bag full of plastic pirate treasure coins.
He's over the moon for now, at least until he figures out what he wants next.

Peek-a-Boo - Moose Style
Julie had the kids recently when she visited her sister in Idaho falls. While the group was setting off 4th of July fireworks, Julie was playing peek-a-boo with Moose with a blanket they had.
"Where's Moose?" Julie would say, then find him under the blanket.
When it was Moose's turn to "find mommy," Julie hid under the blanket and Moose asked, "Where is that stinkin' old lady?"
I'm afraid Moose had played peek-a-boo with mommy for the last time.

Excited for Super Mario Galaxy 2
I think this video speaks for itself. We got Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the mail yesterday.

I don't want to go to church!
Every Sunday we go through the same ritual, and I'm not talking about what happens behind the chapel doors.
Once Moose sees us get his church clothes out of his drawer, he goes into fight mode. Today his battle plan evolved, which, up-to-now has been simply - to battle.
Julie got out his shirt and immediately Moose started to hold his nose. Julie was concerned that he might have a nosebleed so she got a tissue, but his nose was fine - not even runny. Julie asked what the problem is. Moose's reply: "This shirt makes me stinky." Guess he thought that was a good enough reason to stay home from church.
After Julie wrestled his clothes on (stinky and all), Moose switched to Plan B.
"Mom, I don't feel good!" said Moose in the most pathetic voice he could muster.
Ahhh, now we might be on to something.

Tonight as I was putting Moose to bed, I was asking him about some of his favorite things. When he got tired of being questioned, he started asking me about my favorites. Instead of asking me about favorite colors and foods, he wanted to know things such as:
What's your favorite pillow to sleep on?
What's your favorite hat to wear?
What's your favorite door to close?
I admit I had to think about that last one.

Yesterday while attending the showcase of what all the acting classes learned this semester at Hale Centre Theatre, Moose was making some noise with his chair during the performances.
I put my hand on his seat to stop the chair from snapping back and Moose informed me, "Jesus wants you to keep your hands to yourself!"

Boy's Best Friend
Moose spends most of his day chasing and capturing Maya, who he adores. Some of his favorite activities to do with her are jumping on her, riding her, pulling her ears, and just laying on her. Maya's a pretty good sport about it all. She just sits there and takes it.
Bedtime Fun
A few days ago, I had just put the kids to bed when Julie came home from working her business. Moose was excited to see his mom, and wanted to play instead of go to bed. He wanted Julie to chase him. He ran to his room and shut the door. Julie knocked on his door and asked for a kiss and a hug goodnight. Moose simply replied with, "Sorry, sir, I'm closed."
